My work is directed by Humanistic principles, including genuineness, equality, and fostering greater awareness. In addition, I draw from evidence-based therapies (CBT, Mindfulness, CPT) in my work to best suit a particular client or problem. For me, therapy is a collaborative effort grounded on the strength of the therapeutic relationship, which itself can be transformative and curative.

I received my doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Ball State University, where my research focused on the social psychological principles of emotional experience and expression, as well as understanding the barriers to seeking professional psychological assistance. My education also includes a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from Loyola University, Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology & English from Augustana College.

Some approaches I during counseling and therapy include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Approaches/Interventions, Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, Unified Protocol, Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD, and Motivational Interviewing.
